“Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.” Matthew 5:4 KJV
It may seem strange to hear our Lord say, “Blessed are they that mourn”. After all, how could our pain, our suffering, be a blessing?
Could it be because God is ever so close to the brokenhearted? Could it be because God sees our pain and grieves with us? It is true, during these times God seems so far from us, so distant. However, it is in our pains and disappointments where God is indeed closest to us.
“The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.” Psalm 34:18 KJV
God promises to make things right in the end, to wipe away all our tears and we shall be comforted by our Lord for all eternity.
“And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them. They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat. For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.” Revelation 7:14-17 KJV
Do not fear dear Christian, though you suffer now and may wonder, where is my God? He is nearer than you can know. He cares more than you can know. He has not left you, forgotten you, nor has He forsaken you. Persevere a little longer. The rescue is coming. His mercy and blessings are coming and the sun will shine upon you once more.
“The sorrows of death compassed me, and the pains of hell gat hold upon me: I found trouble and sorrow. Then called I upon the name of the LORD; O LORD, I beseech thee, deliver my soul. Gracious is the LORD, and righteous; yea, our God is merciful. The LORD preserveth the simple: I was brought low, and he helped me. Return unto thy rest, O my soul; for the LORD hath dealt bountifully with thee.” Psalm 116:3-7 KJV
