I was reading through the book of Numbers the other night and found myself being very convicted by the words I was reading. This verse jumped out to me and reminded me of how Elohim feels about complaining, especially when he has done so much for us.
The verse reads as follows:
1And it came to be, when the people were as complainers, it was evil in the ears of יהוה. And יהוה heard it, and His displeasure burned. And the fire of יהוה burned among them, and consumed those in the outskirts of the camp. Numbers 11:1 TS2009.
Not only was Elohim displeased with this spirit of complaining but it actually brought him to an anger that caused some to be consumed by fire!
The fear of the LORD truly is the beginning of wisdom.
If I’m not careful, I find myself falling into this evil spirit, this evil attitude. At times it can be very difficult. We all have disappointments, crushed dreams, and broken hearts. This can cause us to moan and groan and even become habitual complainers. We must remember what Elohim has done for us. How he has fed us, how he has clothed us and provided us with shelter. Most of all, how he sent his ONLY son Jesus to die for us.
Do you have an attitude of gratitude, or are you living a life of complaining and murmuring?
