Talk is cheap…
James describes someone in need in chapter 2:15 and that there is no profit in just telling them to go in peace. What they really need is for your to obey the the law of the Gospel and cloth them when they are naked and feed them when they are hungry.
If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food,
And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit? James 2:15-16 KJV
While it’s important to pray for those in need, it’s just as important, more important for us love them in action not just in words. James goes on to say in verses 19-20.
Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? James 2:19-20 KJV
What you really believe will manifest in the way you live. You say you love your neighbors, then that should be demonstrated in the way you treat them. You say you love the poor, then cloth them and feed them. Even the devils believe in one God.
Does your life resemble someone who is a true follower of Christ, or is it just lip service?
